the moment i became unafraid of death
is when i started living
and when i realized
we are all dying in every moment
i saw the beauty in burning
your fear is beautiful
for it means you are here
do not resist your eternal transformation
-- Afternoon Abundance

Afternoon Abundance isn’t just a collection of poems, it’s a journey of self-discovery—for Foster and for her lucky readers. Her images are hard and soft, her words wild and tame, her meaning personal and political. I love it.

This is no ‘glitter and sunshine’ poetry book. It is tightly woven, cutting deep. There is anger, suffering, and wrestling with womanhood. Foster’s collection spoke to me, leaving me speechless and profoundly moved.
